Descriptions:
On this episode of Lady Mprez Presents, Lady Mprez opens up this podcast by stating that she didn’t know WWIII was going because she was chilling in Jamaica while everything with Iran/Israel popped off. She quickly jumps off that topic (Because it is draining) to discuss “What is being Black”? She poses this question due to not being sure what it means these days to be “Black”. Is it a skin tone, is it a ethnic group, or is it a culture? She gets into certain layers of being from a predominately black culture, yet black people from a non predominately-black culture are telling people they’re white-washed (is the term these days). She expresses how some black people associate black to the only black culture around them because they aren’t exposed to other black cultures in America due to location. So due to this, it causes Black Americans to treat others who don’t fit the culture of “black” that they’re accustomed to, like immigrants. She then gets into different layers of Black-American dialects and culture when she discusses the Gullah-Geechee tribes. Are Gullah-Geechee Black-Americans or naw?
Time for some real talk 👏🏾

very insightful. Most Black people in Atlanta don’t even know a real white person- so Thier perspective on what is “white” comes from movies, TV, or brief interactions at places of commerce
