Vice To Lay Off Hundreds Of Staff And Stop Publishing News

Mainstream media is toast, well mayonnaise. Another publication that aligned themselves with pink power journalists like AP (Associated Press) and produced questionably racist material looks to be on it’s last legs.

Vice Media is a news outlet (not just a vehicle that one of Vice’s founders, Gavin Mcinnes used the platform’s notoriety to create a world wide racist street gang, The Proud Boys) it also sometimes published viable news. Until now…

In a stunning reversal of fortune for a media empire once valued at $5.7 billion, Vice Media told its approximately 900-person staff Thursday that its laying off several hundred of its employees and will cease publishing any content to Vice.com, the company’s digital news arm.

Honestly, Vice closing down shop may have nothing to do with capital, per se. It may have to do with the illegal alignments to the underworld including it’s direct connection to street gang/hate group The Proud Boys. Vice has a lot of underworld connections, however since founders, majority of management, and almost all the employees had the complexion for the protection and plugs in the intelligence agencies, Vice has never been investigated. So with a company this shady, who knows the real reason they are shutting down.

In his memo, CEO Bruce Dixon told employees that “it is no longer cost-effective for us to distribute our digital content the way we have done previously. Moving forward, we will look to partner with established media companies to distribute out digital content, including news, on their global platforms, as we fully transition to a studio model.”

Instead of publishing on the website, the company will instead put “more emphasis on our social channels as we accelerate our discussions with partners to take out content to where it will be viewed most broadly,” Dixon said, adding that impacted employees will be notified of their dismissals early next week.

Vice, a news outlet lauded for its edgy, bold and immersive storytelling, is now the latest casualty of a media industry weathering one of its grimmest economic climates in recent history. News outlets have struggled to make money amid a troubled digital advertising market. It didn’t help either that Vice lost a lot of credibility and subscribers by creating a a very slanted documentary against kick boxer Andrew Tate. Was this the final nail in Vice’s coffin? Who knows- the dominoes were falling fast for Vice, they have been doomed for a while.

Since its value peaked in 2017, Vice has entered a period of financial downfall and nearly annual layoffs. A year ago, Vice began looking for a buyer and ultimately declared bankruptcy. The lenders who bought the company out of bankruptcy decided on Thursday’s cuts.

The latest cuts will leave hundreds of journalists scrambling for media jobs that are simply disappearing.

This past few months have seen the demise of Sports Illustrated, Pitchfork, and news startup The Messenger. Last year, BuzzFeed (HuffPost’s parent company) shuttered its Pulitzer-winning news division, BuzzFeed News, and on Wednesday, the company announced it was selling Complex to Ntwrk, an e-commerce platform, just a few years after acquiring it. The Intercept and Now This both announced layoffs in the past week, with the latter gutting 50% of its staff.

While Revolutionary Black media is rising, so called “Legacy” media has gone lame and is not immune to the industry’s woes either. The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and Washington Post have all made well needed deep cuts to staff in recent months. With Vice and other antiBlack news outlets dying off worldwide, much like the pink populace itself, there is a day imaginable when most people will get their news from empowering news outlets that will tell the truth and not just a bunch of “white lies”. Let that day be today. Subscribe, Share, Stay Tuned. The revolution will not be televised 2raw4tv.tv
