Shelley Speaks Truth:
On a podcast, Snoop Dogg expressed that he was “scared to go to the movies now” after taking his grandson to see the Disney film Lightyear. The movie includes a brief scene featuring a same-sex couple raising a child, which prompted questions from his grandson that Snoop claimed he was unprepared to answer. The rapper’s comments sparked widespread backlash on social media, with many users criticizing him for his remarks. Since then, Snoop pivoted his stance and teamed up with LGBTQ singer Jeremy Beloate to release for Snoop’s animated YouTube series, Doggyland, called “Love Is Love”.
The rapper stated that the song teaches children that love comes in all forms, saying that “inclusion is powerful” and that “love is the key”. This move has many people wondering what caused this change in perspective.
